Chimney Sweeping and Stoves in St Andrews
St Andrews has some of the oldest housing we work on: medieval stone buildings, Georgian townhouses and Victorian terraces, much of it inside conservation areas.
The work we do in St Andrews
Old flues are rarely straight or uniform. On a sweep we take our time, use sealed brushes and a HEPA vacuum to keep the room clean, and a CCTV survey is available if we suspect damage further up.
The university means a lot of rented property. Landlords tend to book regular sweeps and keep the certificate for their records, and we are happy to work around tenants.
Where a period house needs a stove, we keep changes to the building sympathetic, lining the existing chimney rather than adding a visible external flue wherever we can.
Georgian townhouses in the centre usually have the space for a stove but little room for visible change outside, so we work from the existing flue wherever it is sound. Period cottages further out often have smaller openings suited to compact stoves. For owners who only use a fire occasionally, a yearly sweep still matters, because nesting birds and fallen debris do not wait for the fire to be lit.
More on each service: chimney sweeping, stove installation, stove maintenance and twin wall flues.
Booking and paperwork in St Andrews
Letting agents and landlords can book several properties together; ask when you call.
Lines are open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Every sweep ends with a sweeping certificate, and every stove we fit is signed off with a HETAS certificate.
"Really impressed with the twin wall installation. Everything was explained clearly and the finish is superb."
