Commercial Chimney and Flue Services
Harder-worked flues, shorter intervals, and a duty of care that sits with the operator rather than a homeowner.
A commercial flue is not a domestic flue that happens to be in a business. A pub fire that runs seven days a week from October to March does in one season what a domestic stove does in three, and the sweeping interval has to reflect that.
The other difference is legal. In a workplace the duty of care runs to staff and to the public, and the paperwork trail matters to your insurer, your licensing position and anybody carrying out a risk assessment on your premises.
Premises we work in
Our commercial work covers a wide spread of building types, and the approach differs in each.
- Pubs and restaurants with open fires or stoves in the public area
- Village halls, churches and community buildings with intermittent heavy use
- Offices and converted buildings with retained working fireplaces
- Estate and farm buildings with multiple appliances across several structures
- Bakeries and premises with solid fuel process appliances
Working around trading hours
Sweeping a bar at midday is bad for everyone. We work early mornings and closed days for hospitality premises, and we contain dust properly because a commercial room has soft furnishings, stock and food nearby.
Where a building is used by the public, we plan access and cordon the working area rather than improvising on the day.
Documentation your risk assessment can use
Every visit produces a dated certificate naming the premises and the appliance, alongside written notes on flue condition. Where a building has several appliances, each is recorded separately so a facilities manager can see at a glance what was done and what was flagged.
We carry public liability insurance to five million pounds and will send the certificate to your office before we attend if your procurement process needs it.
