Where the obligation actually sits
Scottish landlords must keep the property and its installations in a reasonable state of repair and in proper working order, and that includes any solid fuel appliance and its flue. Separately, most buildings and landlord insurance policies contain a condition about maintaining flues, and that is the clause that bites after a chimney fire.
Carbon monoxide alarms are a legal requirement in Scottish rented properties where there is a fuel-burning appliance. We check the alarm is present and sited sensibly while we are there, and we will say so plainly if it is not.

Multiple addresses on a single visit day keep costs down and reduce the number of access arrangements you have to make. We keep the schedule and prompt you before the season rather than waiting for the call in November.

Why the qualifications matter on a let
If a certificate is ever tested, it is tested by an insurer or a solicitor, and the first question is who issued it. NVQ qualified sweeps who are members of APICS and the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps produce documentation that is straightforward to defend. Many local sweeps hold none of these.
