What we mean by chimney repair
Most people searching for chimney repair have a symptom rather than a diagnosis: a room that smokes, a stain spreading on the chimney breast, or a stove that has stopped behaving. Our work covers the flue and what serves it, which is where those symptoms nearly always start.
That means surveys, liners, cowls, blockage clearance and new twin wall flue routes. If what your chimney needs falls outside that list, we would rather tell you at the first phone call than turn up and improvise.

A camera goes up the flue so the fault is seen rather than assumed. Cracks, damage and blockages that are invisible from the hearth or the roof show up on the survey, and that is what the repair plan is built from.

Where the chimney structure is past protecting the flue gases on its own, a liner restores a sound, correctly sized route to the top. It is the usual answer when a survey finds an older masonry flue letting the side down.

A sweeping visit is often how a fault gets found. The flue is cleaned, its condition is visible, and the certificate records what was seen. Any of the following usually means the chimney needs more than brushing:
- Smoke coming back into the room instead of going up
- A draught that reverses when the wind gets up
- Damp or staining appearing on the chimney breast
- Debris or soot falling into the hearth between sweeps
- A stove that will not draw properly once it is lit
- A flue that has been out of use for years and is being brought back

What chimney repair work do you actually carry out?
CCTV chimney surveys, chimney liner fitting, cowl fitting, bird nest and blockage removal, and twin wall flue installation where an existing chimney cannot be used. If your problem sits outside that, we will say so rather than take the job on.
Do I need a survey before a repair?
Usually, yes. A CCTV survey shows the internal condition of the flue, so the work quoted is the work the chimney needs. Repairing a flue without looking inside it first is guesswork.

What does a chimney repair cost?

Can a sweep visit turn into a repair?
It often does. Sweeping cleans the flue and shows its condition, so faults surface during the visit. If we find one, we explain what we have seen and what the options are, and nothing goes ahead until you agree to it.
